Can I work while studying?
There are limited job opportunities in North Cyprus and as per
governmental regulations, students are allowed to work 20 hours per week
as part time. Students will need to register to a university first and
obtain a student permit. After that students will be required to obtain
a part-time working visa along with the student visa.
This is done with the help of the employer. An agreement on behalf of
the student is signed between the employer and the Work Permit Office.
How can my family visit me?
You will need to send your family a student letter issued by the
university and an invitation letter. On the date of arrival, it is
advised to go to the airport with the documents: passport with the
student permit stamp, student letter or student ID card.
What activities are available to do during the study free time?
§ TRNC
is a place with the unique nature. It is possible to watch up to
350 different species
of bird in Cyprus.
§
Between end of August and beginning of September people have an
opportunity to observe
turtle hatching. North Cyprus is internationally renowned for its
Caretta Caretta turtles.
§ You
will also have a chance for scuba diving. You will find
crystal-clear, unpolluted water
where the marine life is still undisturbed. However, please remember
that Scuba Diving along
the coasts of North Cyprus is not allowed on your own. It is illegal to
move any historical
artifacts.

There is a bowling alley in Lefkosa (Nicosia). That’s open until
late.
§ There are cinemas in every city of TRNC.
They show recently released films mainly from the
West. Films are usually changed every week and are shown with
their original soundtracks
and Turkish subtitles.
§ The
few karting circuits have become usual stops for the fans of the
sport in recent
years. Professionals, as well as, beginners, are frequent karting
circuits in North Cyprus.

Hiking
tours
are available and are organized by a number of centers. During the
winter,
the tour program is published at the beginning of every month
explaining the route and
where to meet etc.
§ There
are several official camping sites areas which offer services.
However the more
intrepid visitor may wish to venture out into the wild, where
there are no such facilities.
There are no restrictions on such activities except that the
lighting fire in forest areas is
illegal.
§ There
are several caves in North Cyprus that you are free to explore;
such as the Hot Cave,
Guvercinlik Cave, Incirli Cave, Gastro Cave, Execution Cave.

There are several stables offering horse
riding lessons. Some stables also allow customers to
hire horses to take out.
§ There are many beaches which offer a variety of
water sports ranging from water-skiing,
parascending, wind-surfing and jet skiing.
§ Yacht and boat tours
are available throughout the summer. There are many vendors, so
take time to find a suitable service.

Restaurants, bars & cafes, discos
are also available for the students use.
How can I get a health insurance?
All university students can obtain a health insurance from the TRNC
Ministry of Health. The fee of such insurance is 50 USD and it is valid
for one year. The insurance cards are issued by the Ministry of
Health. This card allows students to get the following facilities free
of charge:
· All
emergency facilities that are provided by the public hospitals.
· Medical
check-up (X-ray and blood tests); from the policlinics (MRE tomography
medicine
excluded).
·
Dental services.
·
Medical surgery at all public hospitals and all medicines in case the
student
stays in the hospital.
