EDUCATION SYSTEM IN NORTH CYPRUS 

·          Education in North Cyprus follows a similar model to Turkey.  Education is compulsory from age 6 – 14.  School education currently follows the model of 5+3+4 cycle, covering primary, lower secondary and upper secondary education.  Pre-primary education is available, but not compulsory. Most of the primary schools offer pre-primary education.

·        On the completion of 5+3+4 cycle, students take the Diploma.  Some Schools/Colleges also offer preparation to international exams such as IGCSE O and A Levels etc.  The final examinations are administered internally and lead to variations in standard between schools.

·          6 universities in North Cyprus offer higher education from Vocation School (Associate Degree) to Post-Graduate Degree (PhD).

·        Medium of instruction in the universities is in English.  However, there are some departments that are taught in Turkish, i.e. Turkish Language & Literature Teaching.
