Football is the main sporting interest of the Turkish Cypriot and dominates the sports coverage at the appropriate season and local teams compete for various shields and cups. Every village has a team and a strong supporters club.Tennis Courts are available. In Girne there is no organised tennis club as such but good players are always looking for a game. Visitors will soon make contact if they wish to play – ask around.
Taek-Wan-Do has a very lively branch in the TRNC which was recently the venue for the World championships.
Windsurfing, diving, sailing and other aquatic sports are available at the various hotels and beach complexes.
Horseriding is available from stables at Catalkoy. They have a childrens Pony Club and also teach horseriding for all ages.
Trips on fishing or other boats can be arranged at the Harbour in Girne.
Boating
Regulations are changing constantly. Fraser & Beyler advise you to consult specialist companies dealing with these matters. More and more mooring facilities are being provided in Kyrenia.
Hobbies and Pastimes
Walking, bird watching, botany, bridge, painting, jazz and more are all catered for and are featured in North Cyprus's english language weekly newspaper "Kyrenia Post” maybe here we have a link to freebirds, Kyrenia post etc?
An English Lending Library is based behind the post office in Kyrenia.
