ITU-North Cyprus offers three undergraduate programmes in the areas of Marine Engineering, Maritime Transportation Management Engineering and Naval Architecture Marine Engineering.
Naval Architecture Marine Engineering
Following a one-year English preparatory school and four years of undergraduate education, graduates of Naval Architecture Marine Engineering Department become entitled to get the diploma of ITU-North Cyprus Naval Architecture Marine Engineering. Graduates of this department will get a continuously developing education consisting of basic mathematics and engineering training with current design and manufacturing techniques. The purpose of this program is to provide the students with communication, decision making, problem solving, leadership, and administrative skills; alongside this, they are expected to keep up with the latest developments in the field. Moreover, students will have the right to become an “Unlimited Engineer Officer” following an additional education (A-III/1 curriculum program in STCW Convention as specified by the Seamen’s Regulations.) Graduates of this department can work in shipyards, ship and yacht design companies and maritime lines.
Marine Engineering
Following a one-year English preparatory school and four years of undergraduate education, graduates of Marine Engineering Department become entitled to get the diploma of ITU-North Cyprus Marine Engineering. The education of this department includes the syllabus specified under section A-III/1 and A-III/2 of STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping) Convention. Education provided by the department meets the conditions required to become an Unlimited Engineer Officer and an Unlimited Chief Engineer both of which are widely needed in the national and international maritime industry.
In the four years of theoretical and practical education, students receive a 12-month practical maritime training (on board experience as Engine Cadet), and thus, they have the right to enter the examination issued by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications to become an “Unlimited Chief Engineer”. The graduates of this department can find employment at international trade ships, shipping companies, shipyards, factories and class societies.
Maritime Transportation Management Engineering
Following a one-year English preparatory school and four years of undergraduate education, graduates of Maritime Transportation Management Engineering Department become entitled to get the diploma of ITU-North Cyprus Maritime Transportation Management Engineering. Education includes the syllabus specified under section A-II/1 and A-II/2 of STCW Convention (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping). Education provided by the department meets the conditions required by “Unlimited Watchkeeping Officer” and “Unlimited Ship Master” which are essential in the national and international maritime industry. In the four years of theoretical and practical education, students receive a 12-month practical maritime training (on board experience as Deck Cadet) and thus, they are entitled to enter the examination issued by the Ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications to become an “Unlimited Watchkeeping Chief Officer’’. The graduates of this department can be employed on international trade ships, shipping companies, shipyards, factories and class societies.
